EUROPE: France - Spain - Italy
Girdner's European work was not limited to Paris. He traveled throughout the continent in search of stories to tell. His European series includes a landscape of cascading terraces in a Spanish vineyard, a newspaper and tobacco seller tending his stall on an empty street in a small French town, and a narrow shot of boats tied to the edges of a Venice canal beneath hanging laundry, like cars parked in a street. One of Walt Girdner's favorite photos is included in this section, a night shot of shapes and shadows of fishing boats in a French Harbor.
