Walt Girdner's MEXICO
A new series of photographs from Walt Girdner's travel in Mexico have recently been restored and released from our archival collection. We are proud to have these photographs exhibit at the gallery from October 7th through December 31, 2017. We will be having an art reception on October 28th from 6pm to 9pm to celebrate the culture and traditions of Mexico.
Preparing the Fields 1974
A panoramic vista of the the surrounding hillside as the farmers prepare the field for next season's crops.
The Bullfights 1957
A series of gruesome contest between the Matadors and the Bulls.
These photographs continue to explore his earlier themes, looking at ordinary people in day-to-day pursuits as well as panoramic rural vistas. Here, they are combined with the themes of Mexican life, ranging from the dramatic and bloody contest of bullfighting to the deeply agrarian basis of life in the Mexican countryside. They include images of a boy child brickmaker and a young glass blower, extending Girdner's focus throughout his bodies of photographic works on the condition and the sensibilities of young people.
